This tutorial shows you the ins and outs of car body smoothing. Whether it be badge removal or door handle, its all here. Smoothing should be the first thing you do to your Photoshop as we all know.. less is more ;)
Door Handle

Lasso an area around the door and Copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) it

First lasso closely around the edges of the body. This acts like a mask! 
[2] Click on the Move Tool (V) and then drag the new layer over the
door handle.

Then click on the "Smudge" tool (R). And gently rub out the line. The
picture to the left shows how it turns out.

If the new layer does blend in, use the
eraser tool (E) and gently erase the
edges of the new layer.

To further improve the realism of the newly smudged swage line I normally
grab the line tool (U) and blend lines on. The door handle tutorial can be adapted for all kinds of smoothing such as- badges, bonnet vents and washer jets.
